I know that as business women, it can be really frustrating when we feel like we’re posting on social media, sending out emails, we’ve got a website and business cards, we’re blogging … basically we feel like we’re doing everything we’ve been told to do in our marketing, but somehow it’s not really working – or at least not how we’d really like it to.

So there are two things I want you to know:

  1. You are definitely not alone in your frustrations, and
  2. The good news is that you can start turning things around starting today

How? Well, by getting crystal clear about…

  1. Who you are
  2. Who you want to help, and super-important…
  3. How you can start getting their attention more effectively!

We’ve all had our struggles in business and life … plus we’ve all experienced some beautiful achievements. In fact, you & I have no doubt had similar experiences as business owners – the guilt we’re not spending enough time with our family, the grrr … frustrations of technology, the doubts that we’re good enough … the sleepless nights. Having your own business can be really tough – and I understand.

And THAT, right there is the beautiful upside to our struggles – because as women business owners we share the same experiences, and those joint experiences create a bond between us … we feel a connection … we understand how it is, and as human beings, we naturally feel drawn to people who make us feel understood.

THEREFORE, one of the most game-changing things you & I can do is find those connections with our own clients & of course, potential clients…

(Or, we can be bland and unemotional, and ensure they won’t even notice us…a bit like white noise – it’s your choice).

So I’m assuming you’re gonna roll with the first option – then we need to tap into their emotional centre … and wake them up to our existence … make them feel a connection – because that’s when the magic happens! … 

Our first job as an entrepreneur or business owner, is often a hard one. We need to define specifically who our customer is – clearly. Who is your perfect customer? The one that you’d LOVE to work with? The person you see when you imagine selling your products and service? The one who would really benefit from what you have to offer? The person who’s life we could easily enhance because subconsciously, they already understand the importance of what you do?

Are they male or female, how old are they, do they have children, what type of house do they live in, where do they holiday, what books do they read, what problems do they have, we need to DECIDE & define our PERFECT customer, because when we do, THAT’s when we can take our communication with them to a totally new level.

One of the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make is they try to market to everyone…but by doing that, they spread their message too thin and their client attraction is more by the odd piece of luck finding someone ready to buy anyway, then strategy.

So instead, be brave and make a decision – choose a niche and choose a demographic. THEN you have a huge advantage…once you know specifically who we’re talking to in your marketing, you can understand their pains and struggles … understand their dreams … and you can then talk to them in ways that make them feel understood.

Let me assure you that the deeper the level of connection your client feels with you…the more they feel you understand them and what they need… the more they get to know, like and trust you … THAT is what leads to paying customers…it’s all about how your branding and marketing makes them FEEL.

And one of the greatest tools you have at your disposal to create almost instant connection…instant attraction with your perfect audience… is a solid, clear, authentic Personal Brand that you put out there consistently. When you have that, your reputation goes before you and you can build a relationship and attraction with your potential customer before they even meet you…How cool is that!

I’ll bring this to a close for today, but I really want you to understand this…branding and marketing is an EMOTIONAL business – because BUYING is an emotional business – and without creating an emotional response in your potential clients, you’ll find it so much more difficult to turn them into paying customers. They’ll probably not even stop to notice you. It’s how you and your brand make them FEEL…how you help them create a positive identity for themselves… how you solve ther problems and take away their pain… how you ensure they associate good emotions when they think of you, that makes them want to buy your products and services. It’s an internal, often subconscious thing for them…

Your brand, and your offering has to ‘FEEL’ good to your potential clients – and understanding is a huge part of getting that right. Show your customers they can trust you to help them towards a better life. Help them feel better about themselves, and you’ll turn them into loyal fans … and paying customers.
